EDO Period Technique Revived / 江戸時代の技が蘇る
Artworks by a third-generation ceramic artist in SETO city, Aichi Pref. He is the only artist who can reproduce the unique technique of pottery called RUSU, which was used in Seto City from the late 18th century to mid-19th century (the technique is often seen in Ukiyo-e pictures). All artworks are handmade.
愛知県瀬戸市で三代にわたり陶芸活動をしている作家さんの作品です。１８世紀後半～１９世紀半ばまで瀬戸市で使われていた「呂宋」という独自の技法（浮世絵の中にもよく見られます）を再現できる唯一の作家さんで、作品は全て手作業で作られています。
Where We Are / 作業場所
Located in Seto city, the workshop was built in the Edo period. It has a unique atmosphere like you see in ANIME.
愛知県瀬戸市にある工房は江戸時代の建物。一部は自然と一体化しアニメに登場しそうな独特の雰囲気があります。天井から吊るされた電球の下で土と向き合っています。
Material and Tools / 原料と道具
Clay and Glazes are original, and most of the molding, tools and even a special kiln are handmade.
粘土や釉薬の調合は独自に行い、成形はもちろん特別な窯や使用する道具の多くは手作りです。
Kneading, shaping, shaving, decoration, drying, firing, glazing, drying and firing.
The whole process takes a few weeks.
粘土をこね、成形、削り、装飾、乾燥、素焼き、釉薬塗布、乾燥、本焼き。出来上がるまで数週間かかります。
